Royal Sonesta Hotel - New Orleans

Hotels on Bourbon Street are great, but they are noisy during the night. The Royal Sonesta is in a terrific spot near Bourbon Street; this hotel has a courtyard and a sports bar.

Bourbon Street is a popular tourist spot in New Orleans; great restaurants and shops can be found there. Staying in a hotel on Bourbon Street is not a bad idea; however, your overall enjoyment in your suite will depend on the type of person you are. If you plan to party while you are in New Orleans, you will have no problems staying at a hotel near within this area. Casual tourists, however, will love the location, but they will not appreciate the noise that occurs late at night. The Royal Sonesta Hotel is a marvelous place for casual tourists who want to tour Bourbon Street; many of the rooms are not near the busy streets.

Although the rooms are great places to stay, some of them will still be a bit noisy, so you have to pick the right one. During the booking process, do not request a suite that is close to the elevator; some people love to party at night, and the sounds of the elevator will disturb you. You absolutely should not book a suite that has a balcony overlooking Bourbon Street because you might never get any sleep. People at the bars can be clearly heard from these rooms, and the noise usually occurs until late in the night. The quietest suites are located over the pool, so make sure you request a suite is that location.

Speaking of the pool, it is a popular area during the day; guests always go there when it is hot. The best thing about the pool is the poolside food and drink service; the snacks are fantastic, and the drinks are very refreshing. The only negative thing about the swimming pool is the water on the shallow end; sometimes it turns a cloudy color, which makes it tough to see the bottom of the pool.

Another marvelous place worth visiting at the hotel is the courtyard. This spot is simply beautiful; it has an orange tree, and dozens of tropical plants that smell outstanding. You should go to the courtyard whenever you need time to relax; it is a superb place to read a book.

For sports fans, there is a sports bar in the Royal Sonesta Hotel as well, and people go there to socialize while watching football and basketball sporting events. Since it is New Orleans, everyone will have to watch the New Orleans sports teams play; however, anyone who loves basketball and football will have a blast at this bar.

The Royal Sonesta staff is great; however, an odd thing happens to most guests during their stay. Many people have had an extra cot brought to their rooms without them asking for it. This usually happens because the staff generally mixes the room numbers; people have report this issue, and someone usually comes to retrieve it.

If want to stay in a hotel near Bourbon Street, the Royal Sonesta is a good choice.
