Many restaurants in New Orleans are fancy and elegant, but some of them are casual places to eat. A good example of a casual, family style restaurant is Mandina's; the overall atmosphere is great, and staff is very nice. The main crowd, however, are locals, but tourists generally stopped by too. As for the food, everything is usually served in huge portions, so a big appetite will definitely be needed. If you plan to visit Mandina's, you will need cash because cash is the only thing that is accepted. Most tourists do not like carrying cash whenever they tour the streets of New Orleans; this is why there is an ATM machine available for guests in the restaurant. Sure, the ATM is convenient, but a few people do not use it due to fees. The best way to handle this problem is to bring cash with you, but you should put it in a very safe place. Putting the cash inside of a purse is not a very too idea whenever the city streets are crowded; the best place to put cash while touring is probably in a deep pocket. Speaking of crowds, Mandina's generally gets many guests, so finding an empty seat may be a challenge. The great thing about the restaurant, however, is that there are plenty of parking spaces, so guests can easily park their cars and then wait for a table. The food on the menu ranges from seafood dishes to soups, and most of the items are not too expensive. Foods such as different types of shrimp, delicious trout, and spicy, seafood gumbo are very popular at Mandina's, but the turtle soup and the various types of Po boy sandwiches are what many people love the most. The sandwiches are all delicious, and they are big enough to share with a friend; guests usually order the oyster, shrimp, or roast beef Po boy sandwich. The turtle soup is outstanding too; some people think that it is one of the best turtle soups in New Orleans. The deserts are all worth trying, but one particular dish that everyone should order at least once is the rum bread pudding. The bread pudding is amazing; guests always try to eat less during dinner just so they can enjoy the sweet treat after their meals. For the most part, the food is great, but sometimes the staff overcook some of the dishes. The chances of getting an overcooked meal are somewhat low because most people generally leave the restaurant very happy. Getting an overcooked dish might be caused by busy cooks in the kitchen because when the restaurant is packed, they have to cook many meals at once. Casual tourists will have a great time dining at Mandina's in New Orleans because the restaurant had a great vibe and the staff is nice. The food is very good too, and the portions are huge, which is great for extremely hungry people. Overall, the restaurant is a great place, so tourists should definitely stop by following a tour.
