The Bahamas during the day is a good time to have fun; the water is clean, the sand is soft, and the atmosphere is fantastic. Nighttime, however, is fantastic time to have fun too, the Bahamas has plenty of bar and nightclubs worth visiting. Port Lucaya Resort & Yacht Club is in a good location for experiencing summertime enjoyment during the day and night, so it is a fantastic place to stay.
The rooms at Port Lucaya Resort are not fantastic, but the surrounding area definitely makes up for this issue. The only good things about the rooms as that they are clean and well decorated, and each one provides a nice view of the Harbor. Sitting out on the balcony, which is only available in the upstairs rooms, and watching ships is a nice way to begin each day. As for the bad things about the suites, they will not ruin a vacation, but they may make it less enjoyable at times. In the suites and on the balcony, there are chairs, but they are far from comfortable, so bringing a seat cushion may be a good idea. In some bathrooms, the shower’ water temperature never seems to work correctly; the water generally gets excessively hot. Certain other items also do not work properly, such as the phone. The phone is not free to use; it is costs .00 to activate it, but sometimes it still does not work. Overall, the suites do have problems, but traveling to the Bahamas is all about touring and having fun outdoors, so the suites issues are not a big deal.
Renting a car is a good way to see the area; Freeport has tons of beaches, which all have beautiful water, and soft sand. Driving in the Bahamas, however, might not be easy for most U.S citizens because the cars travel on the left on the road. It takes time to get use to it, but after a few hours, driving on the opposite side on the road will be easy.
There are tons of fun things to try while staying at the resort; there is swimming, shuffleboard, volleyball, beach activities, nightly shows, bars, and casinos. Volleyball is usually played in the morning, and the games get very competitive. The resort staff even gets in on the fun; they stand on the sideline and cheer the teams to victory. Nightly entertainment is held at Count Basies Square; anyone with a balcony suite will be able to hear the event quite clearly. Overall, all of the activities and events are amazing; there is so much to do and nothing is boring.
As for the food at the resort, there is none, but there is a market right next door. Guests particularly love the restaurant that sells pizza at the market, so it is a good place to visit on day one. For delicious fish, the fry fish is worth checking; the fish fry happens on Wednesdays and Fridays.
Daytime and nighttime fun is possible while staying at Port Lucaya Resort & Yacht Club. The suites are not fantastic; however, the amount of activities in the surrounding area makes the resort a great choice.
